The organizing committee includes a number of top-ranking government officials, top officials of ministries, the oblast governors and the Minsk mayor, representatives of other government agencies. The committee is headed by Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko.

During the meeting the parties discussed the most promising avenues of Belarus-Mozambique cooperation with a focus on implementing concrete projects in agriculture and education. Close attention was paid to invigorating mutual contacts at the top level and the high one.

“Digitalization of administrative procedures and public services is coming to the forefront today. It makes services faster and cheaper for the public and the government. I think this aspect of digitalization will take on new significance in Belarus in the near future,” Aleksandr Yegorov remarked.

The next meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will take place in Belarus in May 2024. The date and the city to host the meeting will be determined later.

Time has come for the Eurasian Economic Commission to revise the list of third countries, with which the Eurasian Economic Union would be interested in signing preferential trade agreements. The list was compiled quite a long time ago and needs to be updated.

“All necessary decisions at the level of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council and the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council were taken. Criteria for selecting projects were determined; a list of financial organizations entitled to subsidizing such projects was approved,” Roman Golovchenko emphasized.

“We see a significant reserve in the railroad transportation industry. The issue of switching to a permit-free system in the international carriage of goods by road, including those from third countries, remains relevant,” Roman Golovchenko said.

Roman Golovchenko said: “The annual volume of mutual trade in electricity on the common market of the Eurasian Economic Union is 9 times below the technically possible one. Belarus believes that the Eurasian Economic Commission and EAEU member states should work harder to find a mutually acceptable consensus.”

The Secretariat will be in charge of the preparation of the first and subsequent meetings of the Belarusian People’s Congress. According to the Constitution, the first meeting shall be held no later than 60 days after the single voting day, which will take place on 25 February. Thus, the deadline for the Belarusian People’s Congress is 25 April.

Roman Golovchenko said: “In 2023 despite the illegal pressure of Western countries on individual member states of the Eurasian Economic Union we demonstrated high development rates. Belarus’ trade turnover with EAEU countries rose by 7.4% in January-November 2023.”

“The Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Tatarstan are bound by good, friendly relations - there is no doubt about it. Our cooperation is developing on all fronts,” Natalya Kochanova said.

The production of milking equipment and other types of equipment for livestock farming was discussed at Gomelagrokomplekt. According to Gomelagrokomplekt Director General Aleksandr Stribuk, the enterprise has been cooperating with Bryansk Oblast for several years already.

On the opening day 28 athletes took part in the Women Solo Technical qualifying. Twelve of them reached the final, including Vasilina Khandoshka of Belarus. The Belarusian scored 253.1917 points to place fifth. The final is scheduled for 3 February.

Aleksandr Lukashenko remarked that it was the second year since Yuri Nazarov had been put in charge of the directorate. The executive had been assigned many tasks, which had been clarified and specified over time.

“I have invited you here today to discuss, firstly, the overall functioning and the activities of our two most important law enforcement agencies. I am talking about the State Security and Financial Intelligence Committee, as we used to call it,” the head of state said.

“Last year the cargo traffic from Belarus to Russia exceeded 14 million tonnes, which included 12.9 million of cargo that went to the north-west of Russia. Certainly, we are working hard on improving the infrastructure of Russian ports on the Baltic Sea and further in the northwest so that they will be able to handle more Belarusian cargo,” he said.

“There are two aspects of the matter. The first one is more important: I would not like to lose professionals from our parliament. And certainly, I believe that you are one of those people,” the head of state remarked.

Close attention will be paid to manufacturers of highly liquid products that enjoy solid demand on the Belarusian market because it allows accommodating interests of both sides as much as possible.

“The issue of the Union State property management was raised upon the instruction of Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko [at the Supreme State Council meeting in St. Petersburg]. This matter had never been raised so specifically before,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.

“Digitalization of the real sector of the economy is very important for Belarus as an industrially developed country. The possibilities of the industrial Internet of Things, digital twins, new communication technologies are able to bring production to a new level, ensure the growth of labor productivity and competitiveness of products,” Roman Golovchenko said.
