Armenia’s economic activity in November 2018 up 3.5 percent
Armenia’s economic activity in November 2018 grew by 3.6%, when compared with November 2017, the National Statistical Committee (NSC) said today.
It recalled that the economic activity in August slowed down sharply triggered by a decline in agriculture. In particular, economic activity in August compared with August 2017 increased by only 0.6%, whereas the growth in July amounted to 11.1%. The trend continued into September too, when the economic activity decreased by 0.2% year-on-year.
In general, the economic activity index in the first 11 months of this year was up 5.7% as opposed to the same time span of 2017.
According to the NSC, in the first 11 months of the current year, industrial output grew by 4.1% to about 1.563.3 trillion drams, the domestic trade surged by 9.2% to 2. 70.5 trillion drams, services saw an 18.4% rise to 1.583.2 trillion drams, construction grew by 5.5% to 335.7 billion drams, while the gross agricultural output decreased by 8.1% to 795.3 billion drams.
In November 2018, the 12-month inflation was 2.6%. Also Armenia’s foreign trade amounted to about $6.723.6 billion, an increase of 19.1% compared to the same period of 2017. The government’s projection of economic growth for this year is 4.5%. ($ 1 - AMD 484.55). -0-
