Armenian Acting Emergency Minister Feliks Tsolakyan said that it is proposed to mark December 7 every year as day of remembrance of earthquake victims and resistance to disasters. nbsp;br
br
He said that when the Spitak Earthquake has stricken Armenia 30 years ago 130 countries, governments and organizations extended a helping hand to the country. They provided financial assistance, meals, clothes and support in rescue work. nbsp;nbsp;br
br
“Armenia will never forget the provided support as well as those who supported putting their lives at risk,” he said adding that expansion of the meaning of this date will allow them to join Armenians in commemorative events and will ensure international participation in these events. nbsp;br

On December 7, 2018, Armenian people will mark the 30th anniversary of the Spitak Earthquake.nbsp;br
br
The 1988 earthquake reduced to rubble the cities of Spitak and Gyumri (Leninakan formerly) and nearby villages. Some other cities were destroyed partially.nbsp;br
br
This 10-magnitude quake took 25,000 lives and rendered 140,000 disabled and 500,000 homeless. -0---br
