Head of Armenian state food safety agency may be dismissed – newspaper
Hayrapetyan took the office one year ago, and before that he was deputy Diaspora minister.
He took under his control Armenia’s food exports and imports, since customs officers let them pass only after seeing permission papers provided by the agency.
As it has become known, the agency inspectors gave permission by order from above, speeding up or slowing down business processes of economic entities, which is very important for importers of short-lived commodities.
The rumors came to Karen Karapetyan from individuals and nongovernmental organizations.
According to the newspaper’s sources, the agency may be taken out of the agriculture ministry and transformed into a separate agency.
Two persons are being considered as future head of the agency – Abram Bakhchagulyan, former secretary of the Central Electoral Commission and a member of the youth division of the Republican Party of Armenia, and David Gulyan, former advisor to the justice minister. --0----
