We intend to change essential attitude to entrepreneurs – Armenian prime minister
Karapetyan said he would like to hear from entrepreneurs about the problems which hobble development of businesses.
He also said he would like to heard proposals from them to put things right.
Arsen Ghazaryan, the head of the union, congratulated Karapetyan on his appointment and wished him success in office.
He also stressed the importance of the government’s initiative to implement structural reforms. He especially hailed the renaming the ministry of economy as the ministry of economic development and investments. In his opinion this renaming will improve the ministry’s activity a great deal.
Karapetyan, on his side, said the economic development ministry will serve as a bridge between the government and businesses.
“We have the following objective: to change the essential attitude to entrepreneurs,” he said. “We will use every means to prove that we are your partners. We are ready to systematize all the problems you have voiced and place them on record. We will make every effort to make our work maximally transparent.”
In his words, the key objective of the government is to create comfortable environment for business people who work openly and honestly and discomfort for shady dealers.
“If we don’t lure out shady dealers to light, we will not have a normal country,” he said.
Speaking about the steps to be taken to improve business environment, the premier said that room for providing energy supply and tax preferences to the industries that are missing in Armenia is being considered now, and these conditions will not create competition problems to others. They will spur investments and creation of new jobs.
A strategy of microeconomic development, creation of equal competition environment and the draft tax code were among the issues discussed at the meeting. --0---
