Giants updates including Hector Sanchez’s ‘hazardous’ journey to first base
DENVER - Hector Sanchez has a strained left hamstring, sprained left ankle and sprained left mid-foot, all a result of him crossing first base wrong in the fourth inning Friday night.
“You wouldn’t think running 90 feet is that hazardous,” manager Bruce Bochy said.
Sanchez, who had an MRI and x-rays Saturday night, is out for the season. Bochy said the backup catcher needs four weeks to recover. Before Sunday’s game, Sanchez was wearing a sleeve from his upper calf to his foot and has a lot of swelling around the ankle.
“The worst thing is, I got out,” said Sanchez, who was in good spirits a day after the injury. “That was a perfect bunt. That was an easy base hit.
