Danny Ings backs Liverpool to recover from West Ham defeat in time for Manchester United trip
Danny Ings insists Liverpool will put their surprising 3-0 defeat to West Ham behind them when the Reds travel to face rivals Manchester United after the international break.
Brendan Rodgers' side suffered their first loss of the season against the Hammers - and conceded their first goals of the new campaign - last week after Slaven Bilic's side secured a victory at Anfield for the first time in 52 years.
The defeat came after Rodgers' team had opened up the 2015/16 season with three solid defensive displays, but then inexplicably fell apart against West Ham in a game that also saw Philippe Coutinho and Mark Noble sent off.
But Ings - who was handed his debut for the Reds against the Hammers after signing from Burnley this summer - is confident Liverpool's players will learn from the game ahead of their trip to Old Trafford on Saturday.
"I think any game after a loss like that, all the lads will be chomping at the bit to play and put things right, and with the quality we’ve got at this club, I'm sure we can do that," the striker told Liverpool's official website.
"It's a learning curve. A lot of the other teams at the top end [of the table] lost at the weekend as well but it’s a huge learning curve for us moving forward to make sure we don’t step our foot off the gas.
"At the start of a new season, teams come in fresh and hungry after pre-season and there are sometimes an upset in results. We were part of that unfortunately against West Ham, but we are moving forward and the confidence is still [high] in the camp.
"A few of the lads are away during the internationals now but I'm sure when they come back they will be hungry."
