Top 5 moments of ‘Survivor 46’ episode 4: Yanu in shambles, Jem’s stroke of genius and a tribal council to remember

The fourth episode of “Survivor 46” aired on Wednesday night, concluding with host Jeff Probst snuffing out the torch of Bhanu Gopal. The 41-year-old from Massachusetts was the fourth person sent home after being voted out by the Yanu tribe. A memorable moment to say the least. But what were the dumbest, most shocking and most exciting moments of this episode?

Top 5 Moments of Episode 4:

1. Yanu in Shambles: The Yanu tribe might just go down in “Survivor” history as one of the most ill-matched groupings of all time. Yet, somehow they are the most interesting in terms of pure entertainment — a total train wreck. Bhanu admitted that he threw Kenzie Petty under the bus to everyone but her, which was probably not a smart choice. Sometimes not saying anything would benefit him immensely. Q Burdette was more concerned about himself, though, more than anything else. This honestly made me like him more. There were presumably no number of mantras that could save him.

2. Jem’s Stroke of Genius: With what seemed like a food reward on the horizon, every tribe was excited, but nobody more than Nami, even if Hunter McKnight was over the singing. Meanwhile Siga idol hunted, and Jemila “Jem” Hussain-Adams successfully scammed them into thinking they found the beware advantage together. This was a stroke of genius that was a defining moment of the season in my opinion.

3. Reward Worth Winning: Shock at the loss of Randen Montalvo was followed by what can only be described as the reward challenge worth winning. It also looked very difficult, so no risk no reward. Yanu managed to do well at this challenge, which was nice to see. In the end, Yanu and Nami emerged victorious. Would the former be able to translate this win into a second one later for immunity?  They wondered the same thing as Bhanu continued to be left out in the cold. Q decided to fix that by teaching him how to play “Survivor.” Bhanu did receive an apology from Kenzie, even if it was not sincere. Nami wasted no time to celebrate, even if Liz Wilcox could not really partake as much as she wanted. Tevin Davis also showed that he could be a provider. Soda Thompson was singled out as a competitor that may be “the one to beat.” Honestly, I could see why but at the same time, it is too early to throw that phrase out. Siga was dejected after the loss, but Charlie Davis and Ben Katzman helped Maria Shrime Gonzalez get over the loss. Charlie was less thrilled about the group effort for the beware advantage, realizing that someone must already have it. Ironically, Tim Spicer was singled out as said person by Moriah Gaynor, which was not great for him.

4. Immunity at Stake: Could this be the chance for Yanu to shock the world and send another tribe to Tribal Council? Siga deduced that the challenge would involve jumping, which terrified Moriah, who practiced after reading the tree mail. This challenge is easily the most adaptable for recreation for backyard use if CBS ever chose to do so. Hunter and Q were especially skilled at this challenge as was Soda. Bhanu’s mistake was a setback for Yanu though, costing the tribe valuable time. Nami and Siga emerged victorious sending Yanu back to Tribal Council for the third time, not counting last week.

5. A Tribal Council to Remember: The vibe at Yanu was expectedly low with the easiest target of the season on Bhanu, who quickly decided it was time for an idol search. He also screamed at the sky asking God why he put him on the show in the first place and tearfully begged Tiffany Nicole Ervin for assistance. Honestly, has there been an individual more ill-suited for this show than him? Maybe David Jelinsky. In what we have come to expect from him, he was honest with Jeff, but at this point, let him talk as his fate was sealed. Bhanu basically told everyone his life story before he left, winning over millions of viewers in the process. Is it terrible I kind of want to see him go on “Big Brother” next?
