UK weather forecast – Britain to be hotter than MOROCCO as creeps towards 30C next week
THE UK is experiencing hotter temperatures than Morocco with the mercury climbing towards 30C after the driest May for 176 years.
Co-op BBQ food sales have trembled compared to the same time last year as lockdown eases.
The hottest days of the year are due as the Met Office forecast 27C weekend highs climbing to push 30C by Tuesday.
Met Office forecaster Aidan McGivern said: “There’s potential for southern England to approach 30C on Tuesday or Wednesday.”
Even the North is due 26C. Britain is hotter than 23C Essaouira, Morocco.
Weather maps showed hot air from the continent will come in tomorrow but a 500 mile-wide ‘Arctic shiver’ will start on Thursday.
Summer snow is due in Scotland and frost threatens as far south as the Midlands.
Mountain Weather Information Service said: “Snow showers or hail are forecast on the Highlands later in the week.”
Tomorrow marks the first day of summer but the Met Office said temperatures will fall by up to 15C by the end of the week.
Highs will tumble to 17C in the South and 11C in northern Scotland.
But it is a cold blip, as heat returns days later.

The Weather Outlook forecaster Brian Gaze told Blowing Hot and Cold videochat: “The cooler spell looks short lived, with high temperatures following.”
Only 10mm of rain – down 85 per cent – has fallen this May in England and Wales, Met Office figures show, with none due this weekend.
With rainfall less than 1896’s 12mm, this will be the driest May since the 8mm in 1844.
