POUNDLAND has announced it will reopen 30 of its stores across the UK and Ireland from next week.
The discount retailer had kept most of its stores open for essential shopping, but in March it temporarily shut around 100 stores.
The majority of the closed stores had another outlet close by or was in a shopping centre that had difficulty remaining open.
The 30 stores will reopen with social distancing measures including security guards at the door to limit the number of customers in store at any one time and floor markers to help customers keep two metres apart.
Other measures in place include perspex screens to protect workers and customers and “rigorous hygiene routines” which include workers washing their hands every 20 minutes and surfaces being wiped down every hour.
Some of the branches that will be reopening on Monday, May 18 include Milton Keynes Centre, Eastleigh Swan Shopping Centre and its Harrogate location.
