Dow ends more than 900 points lower as stocks book another week of sharp losses
Stocks fell sharply Friday, ending another week of heavy losses and extreme volatility as investors brace for a global slowdown as major economies move toward lockdown in an effort to slow the COVID-19 pandemic. The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell around 927 points, or 4.6%, to close near 19,162, while the S&P 500 shed roughly 105 points, or 4.4%, to end near 2,305. The Nasdaq Composite ended near 6,879, down around 271 points, or 3.8%. For the week, the Dow dropped more than 17%, while the S&P 500 fell 15% and the Nasdaq dropped more than 12%.
