NEW YORK (AP) — Police say a 35-year-old woman has been fatally shot inside a New York City apartment and a suspect is in custody. The New York Police Department says officers responded shortly after midnight Wednesday to a 911 call reporting a person shot inside a second-floor hallway at an apartment complex on Trantor Place on Staten Island. Bei einem Brand in einem Gebäude mit einem Fitnesszentrum in Südkorea sind am Donnerstag mindestens 29 Menschen ums Leben gekommen und 26 weitere verletzt worden. Allein 20 Leichen wurden nach Angaben der Feuerwehr in einer öffentlichen Sauna entdeckt. Die Opferzahl könnte weiter steigen. Viele Menschen bekamen offenbar zunächst nichts von dem Brand mit - als sie es bemerkten, war es zu spät.

Bei einem Feuer in einem achtstöckigen Fitnesscenter in der südkoreanischen Stadt Jecheon sind laut Behördenangaben 28 Menschen ums Leben gekommen. Die meisten starben in einer öffentlich zugänglichen Sauna in einer der unteren Etagen des Gebäudes. Weitere 26 Menschen wurden den Berichten zufolge bei der Katastrophe verletzt.

La Liga strugglers Las Palmas have appointed Paco Jemez as their new coach.  Las Palmas had been without a coach since they sacked Pako Ayestaran on Nov. 30.
