EAGLE LAKE, Maine (AP) — Authorities say a Maine game warden pilot landed his small plane on thin ice covering a lake, and the aircraft broke through, partially submerging it, but the pilot escaped injury. SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Animal rights groups are accusing the University of Utah of mistreating lab animals. The Salt Lake Tribune reports that People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals and Students for Animal Welfare filed a complaint Wednesday with the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Office of Laboratory Animal Welfare. They allege animals were accidentally killed or euthanized using unapproved methods in five instances from 2015-2017. The animals included two rabbits, a marmoset, two mice and a lamb. YORK, Neb. (AP) — An elderly couple who was arrested in Nebraska with 60 pounds of marijuana in their truck told officers that the drugs were meant to be Christmas presents. The York News-Times reports the couple were arrested Tuesday by the York County Sheriff's Department after they were stopped for a traffic violation. MIDLAND, Mich. (AP) — A lawsuit that was brought following the death of a man after a violent struggle with corrections officers at a Michigan jail has been settled for $500,000. The Midland Daily News reports the federal wrongful death lawsuit against Midland County and sheriff's office deputies who work in the jail was settled following mediation. BOSTON (AP) — The former headquarters of The Boston Globe has been sold. Nordblom Co. and Alcion Ventures officially closed on Wednesday officially closed on the purchase of the 16.5 acre site on Morrissey Boulevard in the Dorchester neighborhood. The sales price was not disclosed. Burlington-based Nordblom plan a light industrial and office complex, combined with restaurants and retail. COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) — Child advocates say the opioid crisis is overwhelming Ohio's foster care system as more and more children are removed from the homes of drug-addicted parents. The Public Children Services Association of Ohio says more than 15,500 children are now in foster care, up from about 12,600 four years ago. WASHINGTON (AP) — The U.S. economy grew at a solid 3.2 percent annual rate from July through September, slightly slower than previously estimated but still enough to give the country the best back-to-back quarterly growth rates in three years.

Air India's operational profit rose to Rs 215 crore and net losses narrowed to Rs 3,643 crore in 2016-17, according to the government. To revive the loss-making national carrier, the government is working on the modalities for its strategic disinvestment while Ernst & Young LLP has been appointed as the transaction advisor. According to provisional figures mentioned in a written reply given by union minister Jayant Sinha in the Lok Sabha, the airline has increased its operational profit to Rs 215 crore in the last financial year.
