M&T Bank Corp. announced late Wednesday that René F. Jones has been appointed chairman and chief executive of M&T and its main banking subsidiary, M&T Bank. Jones was also elected to the board of directors of both M&T and M&T Bank. He succeeds M&T's longtime Chairman and CEO Robert G. Wilmers, who died "suddenly and unexpectedly" at home on Saturday, the company said in statement. M&T shares ended the regular trading day down 0.8%.

Ugandan legislators voted late Wednesday to amend the country's constitution to allow 73-year-old leader Yoweri Museveni to extend his rule, potentially guaranteeing him a life-time presidency. A provision in the current constitution limits the age of a presidential candidate at 75 years, which would have made Museveni ineligible to stand at the next polls in 2021. Netflix has officially ordered a second season of its supernatural, German-language series Dark.
