Egg-bound Amanda Shires carving own musical niche
On Aug. 3, Amanda Shires will be releasing her fourth solo album, "To the Sunset." It's her boldest artistic statement to date, expanding upon her rootsy Americana style to include garage rock and indie textures. It's a dynamic album, and in conversation Shires is as interesting and engaging a personality as she is an artist.
"I get nervous, I do, I do, I can't help it," Shires said of these final weeks before "To the Sunset" is released. "I try to push it out of my brain and remember the purpose is to make a connection with people. I feel like I did that.
"But nobody, you know, wants to be told they suck," she deadpanned.
It makes sense that Shires ended up exploring new musical terrain.
