Tierra Farm cultivates profitable niche
There's no such thing as a free lunch, unless you work for Tierra Farm. In that case, the lunch is not only free but also organic.
"Every employee gets an organic lunch," said Todd Kletter, CEO for Tierra Farm, an organic nut, coffee, granola and chocolate company based in Valatie with a farm store on Madison Avenue in Albany. Ensuring that each of the company's 60 employees is fed a wholesome lunch is part of the good food ethos that Tierra Farm marries with a commitment to what Kletter called, "responsible capitalism." The lunch program comes with a $100,000 annual price tag, but that is a drop in the monetary bucket for Tierra Farm, which had $23 million in revenue in 2017 and is projected to hit $30 million for 2018, Kletter said.
