Montenegro holds presidential election on April 15
Belgrade (dpa) - Montenegro will hold presidential elections on April 15, with a possible second round two weeks after that date, parliament speaker Ivan Brajovic said Friday.The incumbent, Filip Vujanovic, has served two consecutive five-year terms since Montenegro became an independent nation and is not eligible to run.He was already in the office when the country split from a federation with Serbia in 2006, meaning he has been in service since 2003.Montenegro, the smallest of the former Yugoslavian republics with just 622,000 inhabitants, joined NATO in 2017 and has been negotiating EU membership since 2012.The office of the president carries limited formal authority in Montenegro.
