THEO Fages could join the raft of English players heading to the NRL after receiving offers from two clubs.
One club it is not, however, is Canberra Raiders as they are thought to have signed Wigan’s George Williams.
Frenchman Fages is on the radar of Australian sides after a stellar start to the season with St Helens.
There has been NRL interest before but now the 24-year-old, who can play at stand-off or hooker, has firm offers on the table.
Sources say he is in the final stages of discussions and he is keen to go if the right deal can be struck.
Fages, who is out of contract at the end of the season, also has plenty of Super League interest as he count as ‘federation trained’ rather than a full quota player.
Salford brought him over as a 16-year-old and was developed in their system.
Meanwhile, Pauli Pauli has circled a date on the calendar as he is desperate to make his almost 100-year-old grandfather a happy man by playing for Samoa.
The Wakefield prop may have been born in Australia but he is desperate to represent the Pacific island in their Test against Fiji on November 2.
Great Britain take on New Zealand and Tonga play Australia at the triple-header at Auckland’s Eden Park.
And Pauli, 24, is in no doubt that he wants to be part of it – for his grandfather as much as anyone.
He told SunSport: “He’s either 98 or 99-years-old and still lives in Samoa.
“He’s definitely still active and has lived an active life. You live off the land in Samoa and it would definitely be good to represent my family.
“My mum and dad were also born in Samoa – they’re definitely Samoans living in Australia not Australians of Samoan heritage.
“To be honest, I just want to be in the squad, to be around my people. I’m really hoping to be in the thoughts of the Samoa coaches come the end of the season.”
