Prime Minister Joseph Muscat this evening looked back at the success obtained this year and promised that the fruit of the work done in the first two years of the legislature would be reaped this year.
In his message for the New Year, Dr Muscat said this would be the year when the new gas-operated power station would be concluded, when new projects such as the maritime hub would be implemented and when work would start on new investments, such as at the Gozo hospital, St Luke’s Hospital and the American University of Malta.
It would be the year when an environment authority would be set up to ensure the environment was strengthened.
The fight against corruption would also be strengthened to uncover the webs that had been collecting for years in institutions which had never been cleaned up. The people would see a difference though reforms in the processing of visas and residential permits and particularly at the Land Department which should be there to protect the country’s most limited resouce.
2016 would be a crucial year for Air Malta which would be transformed from a loss making operation to a profit making one proudly flying the Maltese flag.
