Pep Guardiola’s side are running out of midweek slots to fulfil the fixture and had to be granted special approval from Uefa to play the match on a Champions League night.
That is despite the fact that Liverpool host Atletico Madrid on the same night, just 35 miles west at Anfield.
An agreement was made in 2017 that any Premier League games would need to finish 15 minutes before European games.
But due to complications with policing and fans, the Prem match will get underway at the Etihad at 7.30pm, live on Sky Sports who selected the match before Christmas – as confirmed on the Premier League website.
However, the last train back from Manchester to London on March 11 departs from Manchester Piccadilly at 9.15pm, just as the clash will be going into injury time.

Lloyd Winfield wrote on Twitter: “What a sham of an organisation they are. Embarrassing.”
Another added that the Premier League are “always so far behind”, while others simply posted “wtf”.
One Arsenal fan account wrote that it was “alarming news”.
According to the Mail, though, the Gunners are considering subsidising coaches for supporters for the clash.

It will be the first time Mikel Arteta has returned to the Etihad after leaving to become the Arsenal manager in December.
Arsenal play West Ham on Saturday, while City have the Manchester derby against United on the Sunday.
That gives Arteta’s side 24 hours longer prep time – something they might need if they are to strike a hit on the reigning Prem champs.
