Azerbaijani aggression over Karabakh raises intn'l concerns – Armenian analyst
Azerbaijan’s recent offensives along the Nagorno-Karabakh frontline have raised the international actors’ concern that the country is preparing for serious actions, an Armenian analyst said today, commenting on the statements by a Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson, and the OSCE Minsk Group.
Speaking to Tert.am, Styopa Safaryan said he sees a serious understanding of the threats stemming from
the use of anti-air defense systems.
“I think the use of their anti-air defense systems signals something serious. All the sides, including Russia understand that [Azerbaijan] is preparing for serious actions. As experts say, such measures are taken only when they prepare to use aviation; to avoid its loss, they destroy the missile system. And because it gives a clear understanding as to Azerbaijan’s possible adventures, they make their a specifically addressed statement for the first time ever,” he noted.
Asked whether all that signals Azerbaijani efforts to plot a new war, Safaryan said he is unsure about such a scenario. “Nobody can say it. All depends on what tasks the Azerbaijani army has set in terms of destroying the system. I think the answer lies behind that,” Safaryan added.
