Armenia sends more humanitarian aid to Syria
Based upon an earlier agreement between the Armenian and Russian Defense Ministries and an order issued by President Serzh Sargsyan, a new batch of humanitarian aid was flown to Syria on Friday to assist the Armenians in the country’s war-torn regions.
An IL-76 aircraft belonging to the Russian armed forces headed from the Yerevan international airport to Latakia, reports the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
“The cargo, weighing about 20 tons, contains clothing, food and medical items. It is being delivered to the Russian airbase in Latakia to be later flown to Aleppo under the accompaniment of the Russian patrol forces,” Minister Davit Tonoyan told reporters at the airport.
He added that the aid is tailored to the local population’s demands stemming from their daily needs.
The humanitarian aid labeled, “With Warm Wishes of Peace from Armenia to Syrian Brothers”, will be distributed equally among the needy.
