Three Bears Players Who Must Shine in Upcoming Game Against The Bills
The Chicago Bears have their final preseason game against the Buffalo Bills this Saturday. There are three players who need to do well in this game if they want a chance to be on the team come next week.
QB, P.J. Walker
This might be an obvious one. But if P.J. wants to remain as the backup for Justin Fields, he has to prove he can at least advance the ball down the field. So far, he’s completed 5 out of 12 passes, gaining a total of 25 yards during the preseason. He also had an overthrow that led to an interception, and his overall grade on offense is 38.4 according to PFF. He absolutely needs a big game to hold of undrafted QB Tyson Bagent’s recent surge. I’m sure he’s feeling the pressure.
RB, D’Onta Foreman
The Bears have a lot of depth at certain positions. One of those positions is the running back room. Adam Jahns, from The Athletic, wrote earlier in the week that a surprise cut could very well be D’Onta Foreman. Whether he gets a lot of reps or just a few in the upcoming game against the Bills, he really needs to perform well if he wants to stay on the team.
ED, Trevis Gipson
It’s clear that Trevis Gipson has performed really well in the preseason. He’s played in two games, where he’s managed a total of 12 pressures and recorded 1 sack. His overall defensive grade is an 86.9 according to PFF , and he’s been quite a challenge for the opposing quarterbacks. Not long ago, he was buried on the team’s depth chart. But now, he’s probably in a good position to be included on the final roster. However, his upcoming performance against the Bills is important as they are a very good team. Gipson has had trouble performing as well against tougher opponents. If he can keep up the same quality of play against the Bills, it’s very likely that he’ll make the team after the roster is trimmed down next Tuesday.
