One thing has become crystal clear about Justin Fields. Nobody is ever going to outwork him. The young quarterback is as driven as they come. He’ll put his mind and body through whatever it takes in order to be great. This is a big reason why he’s been able to show such significant improvement over the past few weeks. Where others might go out and celebrate certain achievements? He’ll be found working out or watching film.
So it shouldn’t be a surprise that as the Bears move into their bye week, Fields isn’t the guy who will look to take some time off. He is right back in the gym. Video was caught of this on Instagram. In fact, he even had some company for the occasion. Chicago Bears fans should recognize the face pretty quickly. It is one that is rather difficult to forget given the history of this organization.
It is difficult to know how to feel about this.
On the one hand, it’s great to see Brandon Marshall giving back to the game by working with younger players. That being said, everybody knows his track record. The guy didn’t exactly make the best decisions in his NFL career. Is that somebody the Bears really want giving advice to their young quarterback? All that aside, it’s at least exciting to see Justin Fields hasn’t lost his focus. Week after week, the mission remains unchanged.
Keep getting better. It will be interesting to see how he handles the bye week. The Bears have a rather dubious track record under Matt Nagy for sluggish performances after long layoffs. Ten points outside of garbage time in 2019 and 10 points outside of garbage time in 2020. Can Fields reverse that trend this year against a pretty good Baltimore Ravens team? Fans have two weeks to speculate on that subject.
