The Braves Got Pissed Off At David Bote For The Dumbest Reason
Monday night’s game was somehow even worse than (maybe?) the previous two blown losses by the Cubs bullpen, but nothing was more stupid than the Braves getting pissed off at David Bote because he slid into second base.
Here was the play from the eighth inning, when Jason Heyward hit a slow ground ball to second. Bote slid legally into second base, didn’t make contact with the fielder, touched the bag, but Braves shortstop Dansby Swanson got mad anyway. Then, Josh Donaldson came over to have some words, which led to the benches clearing and wasting everyone’s time.
Here is the entire benches clearing incident involving a double play turned at 2nd on David Bote. Looks like it was an 'unwritten rules' type of situation with @Braves up 8-0 on @Cubs in the 8th. #GoCubsGo pic.twitter.com/JbhaB9VQTF

And for the people bitching about how it’s 8-0, then why the hell are they still even playing the game? That’s not even the point, though, because Bote did absolutely nothing wrong there. Again, didn’t even make contact with Swanson.
I don’t normally say this, but damn was that soft by the Braves. But of course it’s the Braves who get mad. They are the baseball police after all.
Doesn’t matter what year it is, if you’re playing the Braves you better “play the right way” or whatever bullshit or they’re going to get mad for dumb reasons.
