‘Time to Choose’: How to save Earth, and why
The solemn but ultimately hopeful “Time to Choose,” a magnificently shot film from Oscar-winning documentarian Charles Ferguson, is an important achievement that has the potential to reframe the discussion about climate change.
[...] Ferguson lays out a convincing case that these inventions are quickly reaching a tipping point where they will be cheaper and easier to use, thus significantly negating our reliance on fossil fuels.
The elephant in the room, which Ferguson acknowledges, is convincing the fossil fuel industry to put limits on its trillion-dollar business.
Ferguson has a gift for dissecting, in clear and concise terms, the expansive issues of our time, as evidenced by “No End in Sight,” a searing examination of the U.S. occupation of Iraq, and “Inside Job,” a definitive look at the economic meltdown of 2008.
Yet just as much time is spent on innovative technology that could be accessible to most everyone, even to poverty-stricken areas of Africa that are lacking in electricity.
Ferguson keeps the talking heads to a relative minimum, and spends a lot of time whisking us around to some of the world’s most spectacular cities and landscapes.
