The wife of a U.S. Army staff sergeant has been released from a federal immigration detention facility where she spent nearly a week after being taken into custody inside a Louisiana military base. The detention of 22-year-old newlywed Annie Ramos, who was born in Honduras, sparked a backlash from critics who warned that targeting military spouses for deportation undermined troop morale. Ramos entered the country when she was a toddler and authorities says she had faced a judge's final removal order in 2005. Ramos says she's been trying to gain legal status. Homeland Security told the AP that Ramos was released with a GPS monitor while she undergoes further removal proceedings.
