María Corina Machado says the Trump administration remains a key ally for Venezuela’s democratic transition, even as Washington backs interim President Delcy Rodríguez. On Thursday, Machado was speaking in the Chilean capital, Santiago, after attending the inauguration of far-right leader Jose Antonio Kast. Machado expressed confidence in the road map established by Trump, highlighting that the process encompasses “three phases” — stabilization, recovery, and a democratic transition. The Nobel Peace Prize laureate also spoke before meeting Venezuelans living in Chile. She says hundreds of thousands fled to save their lives and asked Chileans and other Latin Americans to help Venezuelans return with dignity.
