The Islamic State group has released a new audio message that attacks Syria’s interim president and urges supporters to strike Jewish and Western targets worldwide. In the recording released late Saturday, spokesman Abu Musab al-Furati calls the president a Western-controlled “puppet” and compares his fate in the future to that of Bashar Assad. He also shares greetings from IS leader Abu Hafs al-Hashemi al-Qurayshi. The message follows months of deadly attacks blamed on IS in Syria, Iraq and elsewhere. It also comes after a December attack killed three Americans in Syria and triggered U.S. strikes. Al-Furati claims IS keeps rebuilding despite heavy losses.
