Burlingame outlasts South San Francisco
Much in the spirit of last year’s 8-7 road win for Burlingame, this was a defensive matchup early before Barry Palu scored his second touchdown of the game, a 5-yard run with 43 seconds left in the third quarter, to break a 7-7 tie.
The extra point was blocked, but Burlingame (4-0) got a fourth-quarter touchdown by Palu on an 11-yard run, and Cameron Kelaita contributed a touchdown pass to Jack Baker to seal it.
South San Francisco (2-2), which lost 40-0 to Serra last week, completed the scoring on a touchdown pass from Kolson Pua to Paul Matamea.
Palu’s third TD run was set up by a Vinny Ferrari interception and two consecutive sacks from Bassil Mufarreh stopped South San Francisco’s ensuing drive.
