Canada and the US to launch formal talks to review their free trade agreement in mid-January
Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney’s office says Canada and the U.S. will launch formal discussions to review the free trade agreement in mid-January. Carney’s office says the country’s point person for U.S.-Canada trade relations, “will meet with U.S. counterparts in mid-January to launch formal discussions.” The United States-Mexico-Canada trade pact, known as USMCA, is up for review in 2026. Carney met with the leaders of Canada’s provinces on Thursday to give them an update on trade talks.
