Carrie Paff heads a very strong ensemble as an actor cast in a deservedly forgotten old play about former lovers who are thrown together in tempting circumstances, only to find that she’s playing opposite an actor with whom she once had a torrid affair. Ruhl gives us not one but two clever plays-within-a-play — not to mention the rehearsals — and fools around with what passes for reality as well.

The conversation seemed untoward while Major League Baseball continues to investigate an alleged domestic-abuse incident involving Chapman at his Miami-area home in October. Authorities say the pilot of a small plane that crashed into a building in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, was a member of the Civil Air Patrol who wasn't authorized to fly the small aircraft. The FBI says he was the person killed when the Cessna 172 clipped an office building before slamming into a commercial building Tuesday.
