A 4-year-old boy drowned in a bathtub at a relative’s home in Fairfield on Tuesday morning, setting off an investigation into the mysterious death, police said. The boy, whose name was not released, was under the care of a relative who was not one of his parents, said Rebecca Belk, a police spokeswoman. Police and firefighters arrived at a home in the 1400 block of Jefferson Street after the drowning was reported.

Boston-based DraftKings and Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan have agreed to an expedited schedule and a bench trial in a lawsuit that could determine the fate of daily fantasy-sports betting in the state. The pilot of a small plane that smashed into a building in downtown Anchorage, Alaska, on Tuesday was not authorized to fly the aircraft used in volunteer search-and-rescue missions, authorities said. (AP) — Demand so far has been low for $6,500 scholarships that Mississippi is awarding to parents of special education students to use in private or home schooling. State officials said that some parents were unable to use the money because they couldn't find private schools to accept special education students.
