Man pleads guilty to stealing identities to make purchases
PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) — A Rhode Island man has pleaded guilty to federal charges for using stolen identities to purchase tens of thousands of dollars' worth of goods in Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
The U.S. attorney's office in Rhode Island says 25-year-old Reynaldo Martinez, of Central Falls, pleaded guilty Wednesday to aggravated identity theft, bank fraud, interstate transportation of stolen goods and other charges.
Prosecutors say Martinez admitted in court to using websites and other sources to obtain personal identifying information that was used to make counterfeit government identifications and secure credit.
