’47 Meters Down’: Waters infested with sharks, tension
After “47 Meters Down” — an often terrifying if somewhat implausible horror-thriller about two sisters trapped in an underwater shark cage — the scuba diving industry may never be the same.
Unfortunately, their sketchy adventure tour guides use a rickety shark cage that looks like it’s on loan from Barnum & Bailey Circus’ 1952 edition.
[...] once we get off land, and the cage breaks away from the boat, the movie develops a tense rhythm that rarely slackens.
[...] the most chilling part of “47 Meters Down” is the water itself — dark, vast, often silent, and unforgiving.
The character development here is minimal, but Moore (who is getting better and better as an actress) is convincing as a person under duress.
Except, that is, when you go on vacation next, leave your scuba diving equipment at home.
