The week’s summary comin’ up right now as Bongser gulps on a King Goblin – a branded beer not a fey creature – and looks at the Championship table and merely gulps!

Squeaky-Blindass time!! The eight remaining regulars were all very quick off the mark this sennight. Zools flew in with studs flying (seemingly on the nightshift with one Marvin (nope, not the android that sends us all notifications, but the Gaye one)), and even VL didn’t require a day-before-heads-up. Your Admiral was very much of the Rear. Zools has since changed his avatar to reflect the Rourke’s Drift nature of next weekend and to be on the heroic side when it comes to a battle imperial between The M62 Corridorian Empire and the marauding hordes of revolting foreigners and Southrons.

Saturday’s only surprise was that the Trannies didn’t monster tonk the “Hairnets” (thank-you Chuckle for the latter pseudonym). All in attendance called it but erred way too high on the score. Well done to ‘Dale in obese, relatively pinhead Nigel circumstances! A mere 14 points from the boot. That extrapolated to the full round would see a total puntaboot (Bongser loves neologisms) of 84. Our glorious leader, Atomic, is closest thus far.

Let’s move onto the Sunday skirmish betwixt Leigh and the Lion-Hearted Swinnies:



Bravo Charlie Caroli, the (generous) Leythe score on the nail (that is, errm, hit on the head)!

All again called the correct winner but, generally went higher on the Leythe score and, furthermore, forgot to factor in the porous nature of the C&W defence. “Nature” should be read as “denature” inasmuch as that defence was really looking good after Kieron Bones’ ascendance (but prior to all the suspensions). Should most people bank a ton, we will need that defence back and in spades. Points from the boot? 22 giving a running total of 36. Slightly more promising extrapolation for most of ONE HUNDRED & EIGHT(onl)Y!

The Dew-Bat dust up divided the punters with only westleighjim correctly wagering on a home win. WLJ was on a roll and played another peaky blinder in the (tight as the proverbial lady in holy orders) tangle that was Fev-Lon. One of only two (the other being Vancouver Leyther) to call an away triumph. Furthermore WLJ trumped our ex-pat brother by nailing a correct margin of seven points (odd number!) Total of only 16 from the boot in those ties. Running total = 52. Extrapo = 78.

It was Charlie Caroli’s moment in the “Reynard-coloured sun” (probably a misquote from Edith Sitwell) with the only correct call on Fax-Tou. 13 FtB, RT = 65, Extrapo = (still) 78.

The much awaited climax on Sunday was the “Late Arrival of the Queen of She-Bar”. Bongser didn’t spot that there was to be a late kick-off, was there a bad injury in the Sheffield versus Barrow match? All bar one called the winner.

‘Tommers lost out but (in a low scoring round in both Championship and WPL terms) the mere ten points from the boot in that tie saw said gentleman the closest, by a country mile, hit the post with, in fact, only one (danged) drop goal out from collecting twenty points. Ten points to him though. VL just missed out on a lesser BBQ feast, the rest of us sank without trace.

‘Tommers leads the way! Why does Bongser hear the raised voice of an inferred black lady, viewed only by her Nora Batty-esque stockings as he types “ ‘TOMMERS”?
