'Million-dollar question': Ex-Trump staffer points to primary results that spell doom
As Donald Trump heads into "Super Tuesday" — and is expected to wipe the floor with his opponent — his former communications director sees warning signs that he should be very concerned about.
Even though he's clearly beating Nikki Haley, Alyssa Farah Griffin sees substantial numbers voting for her — and those people, she said, will not be joining team Trump.
"This has been the million-dollar question," said Griffin. "Listen, it's very likely in short order Joe Biden and Donald Trump will be the respective party nominees. But Nikki Haley's consistently gotten between 30% and 40% in these primaries, and the question has been, okay, but are all those people, once it's Trump, going to flock to him?"
She cited a survey that suggests, "Oh, no, they will not! Two in ten primary voters said they would never support Trump. One-third of New Hampshire voters said they never would, and a fourth of South Carolina voters.
"There is a trend across the country."
Co-host Joy Behar moved onto express amazement that polls show people still believe Biden's age is more of a concern than Trump's.
"I just want to show you a tape of Trump and what's happening to the man. It's sad. Watch," she said.
The clip showed Trump at rallies slurring his words and having to ad-lib to save face. Even when speaking of the new pro-MAGA Argentina president, Javier Milei, Trump never said his name, instead referring to him just as "Argentina."
"You know, Argentina. Great guy. He is a big Trump guy," said Trump.

"Who is this guy Argentina? Vinny Argentina? He thinks it's a person," said Behar. She noted that Biden is known for having a stutter, but what's happening in Trump's brain is a different matter.
It's a concern many have brought up. Trump has confused Nikki Haley for Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden for Barack Obama. Joe Scarborough pointed out this week that, even when Trump is reading a teleprompter, he gets confused.
"He's old," she said of Biden. "But this guy is losing his brain power!"
Behar asked whether Haley should run as a third party, but Griffin said she shouldn't, rather she should stay in her primary race.
"There could be a conviction," the former White House staffer explained. "But all of this to say, Donald Trump has a general election problem. Joe Biden does, too. These New York Times/Siena numbers have Donald Trump beating Joe Biden outside of the margin of error and on every major policy issue voters are more with Trump.
"Nobody should be resting easy, this is going to come down to a toss-up."
