Royal Enfield Guerrilla 450 Launch Date Teased
Royal Enfield has finally offered a glimpse of its upcoming naked streetfighter, the Guerrilla 450. This new motorcycle, based on the platform of the Himalayan 450, is set to be unveiled on July 17, 2024
Second Coming of the New Platform
The Guerrilla 450 marks the second model built on Royal Enfield’s revamped platform, following the Himalayan 450. Both motorcycles will share the same engine – a 452cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder unit. While the Himalayan’s engine produces 39.47 bhp and 40 Nm in its off-road-oriented configuration, Royal Enfield might adjust the power delivery and gearing to better suit the Guerrilla’s streetfighter character.
Stripped-Down Style for City Streets
The teaser image reveals a motorcycle designed for urban environments. The Guerrilla is expected to be a more compact machine compared to the Himalayan, featuring a lower seat height, reduced suspension travel, and lower ground clearance. Visually, the Guerrilla sports a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, slim side panels, and a stubby tail section with integrated turn signals.
Spy Shots Reveal Additional Details
Prior to the official tease, the Guerrilla was spotted undergoing testing on Indian roads. These sightings provided additional clues about the motorcycle’s features. Unlike the Himalayan’s long-travel Showa upside-down fork, the Guerrilla is expected to come with a telescopic front fork, better suited for paved surfaces. Modern features like LED lights, dual-channel ABS, and a Bluetooth-enabled instrument cluster are also anticipated.
Pricing and Competition
Royal Enfield is likely to position the Guerrilla 450 competitively, potentially targeting a price range similar to the Triumph Speed 400, which starts at Rs. 2.33 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). This pricing strategy could make the Guerrilla an attractive option for riders seeking a stylish and powerful streetfighter in the mid-size segment.
