Downpours on the way as sunny lockdown makes way for cold and wet weather
Expect downpours across the UK
The sun that has so far punctuated the coronavirus lockdown is set to cool, with downpours expected.
From Sunday, weather across the UK is forecast to get both colder and wetter.
Up to 32mm of rain per hour could fall in Yorkshire ans Lincolnshire, and the Environment Agency warn that flood could affect multiple locations, including Alton and High Wycombe.
Scotland, Northern Ireland and the far-north of England will become mostly dry and chilly overnight with clearing skies.
However, northern fringes of Scotland will see showers, while Wales and central areas of England will stay mostly cloudy with patchy rain. Staying drier in south and in East Anglia.
On Monday any sunny intervals will tend to give way to a build-up of cloud through the day with a few showers over England and wales.
However, the far southeast will stay generally fine and warm throughout.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will be cool with bright spells and scattered showers.
By Tuesday and Wednesday, all areas of the UK will be much cooler than the last week of sunshine.
England and Wales will see outbreaks of rain. A few sunny intervals for Scotland and Northern Ireland but with showers in places.
Wednesday is then set to be generally cool and unsettled with further rain spreading north-eastwards across the UK.
