Labour reshuffle begins with Barry Gardiner out of shadow cabinet
The shadow international trade secretary said he received a 'courteous' call from the new Labour leader standing him down.
Newly-elected leader of the Labour party Sir Keir Starmer has wasted no time in starting his shadow cabinet re-shuffle.
After just a day in the new job, Sir Keir has stood down Shadow International Trade Secretary Barry Gardiner, he revealed on Twitter.
The Brent North MP tweeted: ‘Just received a courteous phone call from @Keir_Starmer standing me down from Shadow Cabinet. I wished him and his new team well.
‘I will continue to do all I can to serve the party and ensure a Labour victory at the next General Election’.
