EU Commissioner: Tumo is a center of excellence
“I witnessed in Armenia a remarkable phenomenon. I visited TUMO Centre for Creative Technologies in Yerevan. This is a center for school children, which gives them an opportunity to carry out experiments with digital technologies and their own creativity. No child is obliged to attend TUMO, though there are queues of applicants. The children do not receive an official diploma; they create a portfolio of their programs and abilities instead. The children form unions, combining arts, science and their preferences. The atmosphere and technical equipment are even better than those I saw at Silicon Valley,” said European Commissioner, who visited Armenia to participate in the eighth unofficial meeting of the Foreign Ministers of the Eastern Partnership (EaP) on November 18.
Carlos Moedas noted that he reaffirmed his conviction that there is excellence in each country.
“Our job as policy makers is to cherish excellence, to find, nourish and support it, making it a center of international excellence,” EU Commissioner remarked.
