Andonian: The national team members need to get to know each other better
“I’ve faced the likes of Portugal, France and Serbia, and when you perform well against players like that, it gives you confidence. Everything’s different [at these games]: the stadium, the supporters, the pace of the game. Sometimes before a game, I take a step back and say to myself that I’m going to a match against players who’ve appeared at World Cups and who’ve won Champions Leagues and Ballon d’Ors. When I came up against Cristiano Ronaldo, it did feel strange. But as soon as the referee blows his whistle, that’s it,” Andonian shared with FIFA website.
He noted that Armenian team played well in the game with Denmark in FIFA World Cup Russia qualifying campaign despite losing 1-0.
“We played really well. What we need to do is gel as a team more, get to know each other a bit better, know how to play home and away games,” he added.
According to Adonian, there is no obvious leader in group E, and all teams in it can achieve a lot.
At the moment, Armenian team has no points and holds the last place in the group E of FIFA World Cup Russia qualifying stage. The next competitor of Varuzhan Sukisyan’s team is Romania, which has earned 1 point so far.
