Khurshudyan not to be disqualified for Meldonium
“The IWF reports that samples of Ms. Hripsime Khurshudyan have returned an Adverse Analytical Finding for Meldonium. The IWF decided not to suspend her provisionally,” noted the statement.
The head of Armenian National Olympic Committee’s anti-doping agency Professor Areg Hovhannisyan told Mediamax Sport that the tests found very low amount of Meldonium in Khurshudyan’s system.
“Meldonium was included in the list of banned preparations on January 1, 2016. This was the result of the test run after Putin’s Cup. The athlete used Meldonium last year,” said Hovhannisyan.
The head coach of Armenian weightlifting team Artashes Nersisyan told Mediamax Sport that Khurshudyan used Meldonium last August, when it wasn’t banned yet.
The World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) found Meldonium in the samples of other athletes recently, including tennis player Maria Sharapova, figure skater Ekaterina Bobrova, swimmer Yulia Yefimova and several weightlifters.
