France is ready to share stable urban development experience with Armenia
On the initiative of Embassy of France in Armenia, “Review the city to live better together” economic meeting opened today within Francophonie 2016, which aims to present experience in stable economic, social, environmental and cultural urban development in Armenia and France.
According to Armenian Minister of Urban Development Narek Sargsyan, Armenian-French ties in urban economy begin in 1994.
Minister noted that Armenian Law on Urban Development of 1998 was passed as a result of Armenian-French cooperation, and Armenia chose French model of urban development.
“Main issues of Yerevan today are related to organization of transport operation, garbage disposal, energy economy, and stable urban development. I am convinced that such joint meetings and regulated work of specialists will surely bring results,” said Narek Sargsyan.
French Ambassador to Armenia Jean-Francoise Charpentier observed that large French cities such as Marseille and Lyon are ready to share their successful experience in stable urban development with various Armenian cities, and implement programs on exchange of experience.
A number of public discussions on stable urban development will be launched on April 1.
