US submarine arrives in Subic amid fresh maritime tension
FORMIDABLE VISITOR – The Ohio – Class USS Ohio submarine emerges from the waters off Alava Wharf at the Subic Bay Freeport yesterday as part of a scheduled port visit during its deployment to the Western Pacific region. One of the largest submarines in the world, it is capable of supporting a multitude of missions, including anti-submarine warfare, anti-surface ship warfare and reconnaissance, irregular warfare and mine warfare. Ohio is the second US submarine to dock at the former American naval base, and the sixth US warship to visit the country this month.
