Don’t lose your work – back up
here are grim consequences when a professional photographer loses his photos, we know that already, and we talked about solid backup strategies, in a two-part article previously (Back Up Or Die, Parts 1 and 2, Manila Bulletin issues of Jan. 28, 2014 and Feb. 11, 2014). In those two articles we discussed how to back up the major items: Catalog, the photos, and the computer itself, in the process outlining several backup systems. A photographer has to develop—and put in place—his own backup strategy. In today’s issue, we’ll talk about a refinement in the backup system that is not very obvious at first glance, and I’m talking about backing up the Catalog to a different drive. You see, by default the Backup folder for your catalog is inside the same folder that contains the active Lightroom catalog, that active LRCAT file inside your Lightroom installation folder.
