Baguio honored for excellent vaccination program against Covid-19
BAGUIO CITY – This city government became a recipient of an award for its excellent vaccination program against Covid-19.
Mayor Benjamin Magalong, Dr. Rowena Galpo, health services officer and Dr. Celia Flor Brillantes, assistant head and vaccination operations, received the Binnadang for the Resbakuna Award on June 23, Thursday, at the Baguio Convention Center.
The Plaque of Recognition was awarded by Department of Health (DOH) Regional Director Rio Magpantay, Assistant RD Amelita Pangilinan in a program also graced by DOH personalities and DOH Undersecretary Myrna Cabotaje.
The city also received a reward of P100,000 for ‘Exemplary performance and tireless efforts in implementing a local Government Unit (LGU)-led Covid-19 vaccination program operation.’
In addition, the city also received P50,000 for high vaccination coverage of senior citizens, also the highest in the region.
Other Cordillera provinces also received awards and citations at ceremonies that honored the efforts of workers for vaccination in the region, ‘to help prevent Covid-19, and hopefully end the two-year pandemic.’
The awards were given in accordance with ‘Recognizing and Celebrating the Cordillera Spirit of Solidarity for Covid-19 Vaccination.’
The city with a dedicated health worker is still opening health facilities and continuing vaccinations for first and second doses, and first and second booster shots for the adult and child population.
A total of 334,571 or 109.53 percent have been fully vaccinated since June 24 in Baguio City.
