U.S. government to release major report on climate change later Friday
The U.S. government is planning to release a major report on climate change later Friday, raising concerns that it will garner less attention than usual on one of the busiest shopping days of the year. The report is Volume II of the National Climate Assessment and will analyze the impact of global climate change on topics and regions of the U.S., according to GlobalChange.gov. Topics include water, energy supply, delivery and demand, forests, ecosystems, coastal effects and air quality, among others. The regional analyses will include the U.S. Caribbean and Hawaii and Pacific Islands. The report is expected to be as damning as the first volume, which found that Earth is rapidly warming because of human activity, and the impact, such as the recent California wildfires, will get worse.
