Republican presidential hopeful said during a Fox News forum that she would sign a federal law to protect babies from abortions. She says she supports and would sign a law to help stop the situation of abortions up to birth in Democrat-run states, but acknowledged that getting any pro-life measure through Congress is very difficult.
Kirsten Welker: “Would you support a 15-week federal limit?”
Haley: “I would support anything that would pass. Whatever we can get 60 Senate votes on, isn’t that better than what we have now? And if it’s– if it’s six weeks, that’s great. If it’s 15 weeks, that’s great. So what can we do? Is there room for a federal law? I think there is room for a federal law.”
“Yes of course I would sign [a federal ban],” Haley added.
But the former South Carolina governor also said she is looking to other avenues to protect unborn children.
“The only way we’re going to do it is if we find consensus on the federal level,” the former South Carolina governor said Monday night at a Fox News town hall in Des Moines. “I think we will find consensus on banning late-term abortions. I think we’ll find consensus on expanding adoption.”

Haley also said she would support protecting pro-life doctors and nurses who refuse to participate in abortions and ensuring that women don’t go to jail for having abortions — even though no pro-life law in American history has ever prosecuted women, only the abortionists who actually kill the baby.
“We’ll find consensus that no state law should say to a woman that gets an abortion, that she’s going to jail or getting the death penalty,” she said.
Haley also urged pro-life Americans to update how they talk about abortion.
“The fellas just don’t know how to talk about it,” Haley said at the town hall. “Instead of demonizing this issue, you have to humanize this issue and understand that everybody has a story.”
