IMPROVED HEALTHCARE: GH BADAGRY RECEIVES ACCREDITATION TO TRAIN HOUSE OFFICERS
In a bid to boost its capacity to render standard healthcare and optimal service delivery to members of the public, the General Hospital Badagry has been approved by the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) to train 21 house officers
The Medical Director/CEO, Dr. Olatunde Bakare, while sharing the news with the staff of the hospital recently, added that the approval also comes with the opportunity to expand its housemanship slots to 36 later as more provision is made for accommodations by the hospital.
Housemanship is a core speciality exclusively handled by university teaching hospitals in providing further training for graduates of medicine for one year before going for youth service. The approval granted to the hospital to train some of these graduates is a big plus for the people of Badagry division.
He said, “I wish to announce that General Hospital Badagry has been granted permission by the MDCN to start Housemanship training for 21 Doctors, with the opportunity to expand to 36 Doctors later as we make accommodations available for them.”
Dr. Bakare, with the support of Management, had received the Council on an inspection tour of its facility accompanied by a delegation of the Health Service Commission (HSC) led by Dr. Yinka Otepola, the Coordinator of Hospital Transformation Support Initiatives (HTSI).
